Mission 2010: Our Next Chapter
Our Centennial Year has been amazing! We thank and congratulate the entire Centennial Committee and in particular, our co-chairs, Ann Marie Rosa and Bill Loiselle, for a successful year of many wonderful celebrations.
As we end our Centennial Celebration, we begin a new chapter in our parish life. As
Alexander Graham bell once said, "When one door closes, another opens..."
First, our Vision is not changing. We remain dedicated to:
- Worship
- Faith Formation
- Service and Social Justice
- Interfaith Education & Dialogue
- Community of Shared Leadership
However, we begin our next chapter at OLOS by focusing on the answers to two questions - what do we want to look like in 2010 and what do we need to do to achieve that mission?
Before answering these questions, the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) considered the trends in our parish as well in the Catholic Church, the community, the country and the world to help provide a complete picture of what impacts each and every one of us. Within that context, we now have a framework for our next chapter at OLOS: Mission 2010.
What do we want to look like in 2010? - We believe that, together, Our Lady of Sorrows will be known for our:
- Special Character
- Strong shared leadership
- Unique presence, and
- Impact with the wider community
What do we need to do to achieve this mission for 2010? We have identified five major objectives for the next four years:
- To increase the participation in the life of the parish
- To enhance communication at the parish level, the wider community level and the inter-faith level
- To increase the quality of parish life for all parishioners
- To build a more vibrant community
- To ensure the operational and financial plans efficiently support Mission 2010
There will be many opportunities to be involved. Our collective involvement will help Our Lady of Sorrows to accomplish these goals.
We invite you to participate in Mission 2010 by looking for more information in the bulletin, on our website or by contacting the Parish Council or Father Scott at 781-784-2265.
